Meet up with Google at the Montélimar town hall on September 21. The Android Nougat build will be unveiled there ahead of its upcoming release.
Real-world use case
Want to discover Android Nougat in a preview near you? Head to the Google presentation organized at the Montélimar town hall.
The Android system
Android is an open operating system whose source code is accessible (unlike Apple's systems). The Android system was acquired by Google in 2005, and has seen strong growth ever since. Today many manufacturers use it and contribute to its development.
For my part, I started using Android on version KitKat (4.4) with the arrival of the Nexus 4. In 2013, Nestlé quickly seized the opportunity to promote its KitKat candy bar:
Android Nougat
The latest version of Android will be called Android Nougat, and it will come with a batch of new features:
- A multi-window mode to view two apps side by side.
- A notification screen with new functions.
- An improved encryption system (direct boot mode).
- Strengthened security via the Linux kernel.
- An offering called Daydream for a virtual reality experience.
- Quarterly improvement updates.
All the new features can be found on the official Android Nougat website.
Google in Montélimar
The Montélimar town hall reached out to the Mountain View firm (Google) to organize an event around nougat and the release of Android version 7. Did you know that nougat production in Montélimar represents about 4,500 tonnes a year, or roughly 346,153,846 individual nougats? So we're still quite far from the 1.23 billion Android devices in use worldwide that Google expects by the end of 2016!
The following program is announced on the city of Montélimar's website:
- 12:00 pm: opening and welcome address.
- 12:15 pm: surprise event.
- 12:20 pm to 3:00 pm: an organic buffet of local products and a green "Android Nougat" cocktail, 100% local.
- Activities: bouncy castles, creative workshops for kids "Decorate your Android", live nougat making...
The media therefore received rather tempting invitations from the city of Montélimar. On top of the nougat, a Bugdroid statue will be given to the city of Montélimar by Google:

As a "Montilien" (resident of Montélimar) myself, I'll be attending the event from 11:00 am at the town hall.
